May we learn to respect each other enough to listen, to work together, to find hope in our sharing.

AND SHE PONDERED: Encountering God in Everyday Life
Joy, Hope, Strength, and Ponderings!
May we learn to respect each other enough to listen, to work together, to find hope in our sharing.
Please join me in prayer today:
I want to celebrate the joy of living in the good times and the bad. In each, I discover the strength and goodness of Holy Love.
I invite you to join me in prayer:
Rather than getting aggravated at each other, exasperated, whining, or whatever emotions rise up in times of disagreement, why not recognize that our differences may actually help us balance out our needs?
My prayer is that we will be thankful for the gifts of others and that we may indeed work side by side and walk hand in hand:
I titled this “Touching Lepers” and I don’t think I even mentioned the scripture in Matthew where Jesus comes down after the Sermon on the Mount and a man with leprosy asks Jesus to heal him. Jesus does the unthinkable: he reaches out and touches him.
Jesus saw beyond the disease to the person underneath. Here is to looking beyond the surface to those we encounter:
Have you ever felt rejected? Memories of the dreaded Red Rover games loom in my head. I was a scrawny weakling that everyone knew couldn’t hold hold tight enough. Even worse are the job rejections. Maybe love rejections are worst of all.
There is one place where we are not only not rejected, but we are invited, welcomed, accepted , and loved. That is in the arms of Christ, into dwelling with The Life-Giver.
I invite you to accept the invitation of Christ to follow The Way of Love that he offers. Please join me in Home Communion:
I like people. I feel like everyone has gifts and beauty to share. Each person is a gift of The Creator and my world is richer by looking for the best in each one. Every life is a life to be celebrated.
I find it easier to be in the company of some people more than others, I have to admit. There are some people I can spend hours talking with, losing all track of time. Being with them feels like joy bubbling up from the inside. I feel accepted and safe with these people. I feel like I can open up and share my very being with them.
I think that this is the kind of relationship we are invited to have with Christ, with the Divine.
Mary and Martha are sisters who welcome Jesus and his disciples into their home. Martha stresses about getting everything just right to show her devotion to the Holy. Mary simply sits at the feet of Jesus and soaks it all in. Mary chooses what was traditionally a male role and Jesus affirms her choice.
Jesus says, “I am the vine and you are the branches.” Stay connected to live in the Christ Way.
Today is Arbor Day where we are reminded of the gift trees give to us and are encouraged to plant more. It is a good opportunity to deepen our connection to Our Tree of Life.
Welcome to today’s morning prayer:
For those who are heavily burdened: You are not alone. Your troubles can be opportunities to grow and learn when places in the hands of Holy, Life-Giving Love. May it be so.
I invite you to join in pondering and prayer:
Have you ever written a thank you note to yourself? If you haven’t, give it a try. You may be amazed at the good you do. You may be amazed at the ways you sought to walk in Holy Love and shared that love. You may be amazed to discover that life isn’t perfect due to never making mistakes or doing everything, but it is perfect/complete/whole by living out of the single purpose of receiving and sharing Holy Love. That is God-Perfect and it is perfect enough.
Please join me in prayer:
It can be so hard to lift up our heads when we feel down and discouraged, ashamed, unloveable, like a failure. But that is exactly what we need to do.
Invite into your thoughts the promise of God’s love that is unshakable. Then practice letting go of your need to be perfect and start lifting others up by small ways of caring, comforting, loving.
It is by offering love, that we find love.
Please join me in this morning’s prayer:
“That ….. gets on my last nerve! Why won’t they let me sleep! Grumble …” How often do I wake up like this? Thinking of my complaints, my dread, my fears, my struggles. What a difference it makes to take a moment, even as I am rushing to get the dog outside, to remember that I am being held in Holy Powerful Love and to think of the ways I love or can love others. Love can change the world, and even us. It is my hope and goal.
