I like people. I feel like everyone has gifts and beauty to share. Each person is a gift of The Creator and my world is richer by looking for the best in each one. Every life is a life to be celebrated.
I find it easier to be in the company of some people more than others, I have to admit. There are some people I can spend hours talking with, losing all track of time. Being with them feels like joy bubbling up from the inside. I feel accepted and safe with these people. I feel like I can open up and share my very being with them.
I think that this is the kind of relationship we are invited to have with Christ, with the Divine.
Mary and Martha are sisters who welcome Jesus and his disciples into their home. Martha stresses about getting everything just right to show her devotion to the Holy. Mary simply sits at the feet of Jesus and soaks it all in. Mary chooses what was traditionally a male role and Jesus affirms her choice.
Jesus says, “I am the vine and you are the branches.” Stay connected to live in the Christ Way.
Today is Arbor Day where we are reminded of the gift trees give to us and are encouraged to plant more. It is a good opportunity to deepen our connection to Our Tree of Life.
